My name is Tim, I’m 22 years old, and I’m on a quest to escape the cubicle!
Let’s start from the beginning… I was a fresh newborn baby when I decided that someday, I was going to be rich. No reason in particular, that was just my life’s calling. So, 18 years later, I graduated from High School, and the official quest to riches began.
I enrolled in a Computer Science program at a technical college, and 2 years later, in my final year of the program, something dawned upon me, something so terrifying that it shook me to the very core of my existence!
I was being trained to be a corporate peon.
Yes, it was true. I even had an internship, which I literally bailed out of because it was so mind numbingly boring. They had me, the star of the program (smart AND cool), doing inventory. It was the bottom of the ladder, and I didn’t feel like climbing it.
Luckily, I had a teacher who inspired me, and showed me an alternative to working for the Man; becoming the Man. He was one of the founders of a Very successful internet business, so I would meet with him all the time to discuss Internet Marketing.
Eureka! A way to get rich AND escape the cubicle at the same time! The window of opportunity was opening.
Alright, so after I graduated with massive honours (serious, really LOL), I started University in Computer Science, and began investigating Internet Marketing on the side. Oh boy, what a mistake. University was an awful experience, teaching me absolutely useless information in the most cryptic and confusing way possible. I had 3 years of experience in computer science, and I still was baffled by what they were talking about.
So, I dropped out, and I didn’t regret a thing. Hell, I even abandoned a scholarship! It was time to go full time with IM while I still had low responsibilities. It was, and still is, my best chance at success.
For a year after dropping out, I studied and researched and read and absorbed as much as humanly possible about internet marketing, and unfortunately got nowhere. Why? Because I forgot the one key ingredient.
Action.
And here we are today. I have finally began taking action, and things are going really fantastic. I chose to concentrate my efforts on Affiliate Marketing to start, and I feel that every day I get closer and closer to tipping the scale and seeing the results I’ve always hoped for.
It’s truly an exciting journey, and it’s one that I hope you will join me on.

!

I’m in the same program you are. I’m in my last semester and feel that I’m on my way to something in this online marketing world. I can really relate to this post…good one.
Great story. Action is really the most important part. I started with a GED, but I have always been self taught. Internet marketing gave me the shortest distance between action and money in my pocket.

Yes, universities only give you certificates but you give yourself knowledge.
It’s nice to have a lil background info — I dunno whether or not you read my post documenting my own initiation into blogging (after around 9 months in IM) http://rewardrebel.com/blog/genesis-of-a-blogger/ Good vibes comin’ atcha;-D
My nephew is struggling with this right now, not sure what to do, I told him to grab onto this internet marketing frenzy and go with it, his gift of gab and his way of talking and writing would do great. I want to hire him! I am going to pass your story on!

I was on a tele-conference with a well known marketer earlier who is about to launch an expensive course about affiliate programs and ppc. Well, I took notes and picked up the key phrases like long tail keywords (which I’d heard before w/o realizing it was just keyword subsets), and then did a search for free adwords training, found your blog and got some of the info I need for free. Thanks so much. Now I am finally taking action after info overload from so-called gurus but at least I didn’t spend a boatload of $ on info that can be had for free if you’ll just take action and seek it out. Thanks for the clear explanation–you helped me a lot. Please feel free to come by and see my hobby site. I’m getting ready to launch my own domain name site using the info I’m learning. (I do have some cool affiliate links at Me Gusta You Tube that maybe some of you might find interesting or not.
Hi there, glad you enjoyed my blog!
I learned that it’s true that most information can be found for free if you’re willing to look for it, but more importantly if you’re willing to WORK for it.
Trust me when I say nothing is worth more than your own experiences. People will yell at you left and right about what is the newest best ways to make money, but only through your own trials and tribulations will you know the truth.
That’s where the time vs. money dilemma comes in. You can pay for information that speeds along your learning, or learn it yourself through research and experimentation.
Personally, I like to mix a little of both, because there is definitely good information being sold, and the better ones detail their own learning processes, so you can see exactly where they are coming from.
Whatever you do, I wish you the best success in your affiliate marketing efforts! I’ll do my best to pass along to you the best information I learn myself
