Well Done for pointing out the need to use blog directory’s & rss feeds to build your backlinks. Recently there has been a very similar way to build backlinks via rss & forums as some allow you to post your rss feeds with every post you do. This has the same great deeplinking affect & should be taken as a great opportunity to build backlinks.

It is also proven that getting backlinks from a site with .edu domain is better than the ordinary backlinks, so I have written a small article on getting free EDU blog and backlinks.

Great point! Yes I have seen forums like this, and that could definitely have an impact!

Two that come to mind that I surf are:

http://forums.digitalpoint.com/
http://www.bloggeries.com/forum/

Also remember forums that allow sig files with links, those can definitely help too.
