BoringNo shocker here, if you are affiliate marketing on a budget, you’ll have to do a lot of monotonous and repetitive tasks. I just spent a few hours submitting to a HUGE list of blog directories for back links, and let me tell you, it was boring as heck.

Anyways, this is really one of many annoying tasks that you’ll probably end up doing at some point or another if you don’t want to outsource.

Link building, article writing and submissions, forum marketing, social bookmarking… while they are all really small pieces of the puzzle, they do help at least a very small bit, so it all counts, no matter how annoying they may be. If you’re like me though, you want something to make doing these easier on you and less excruciatingly dull.

Here are some of the ways I motivate myself to get through these chores, and finally get to the exciting stuff ;)

Play Pump Up Music

Generally, I’m a sort of Ambient/Electronic/Chillout music guy, but if you listen to this stuff while doing the mindless work, holy cow you will totally get bored out of your mind. Play some loud, high energy tunes to plow through your annoying task of choice, and you might find it much easier. Tap your feet to the beat, or even better, work to the beat! (Not possible you say? Try it!)

Have a specific goal and reward

It helps to break down a really long annoying task down into smaller pieces, but what makes it even easier is to have a nice juicy reward waiting at the end of all those goals! Take the huge mountain, and climb it one step at a time. If you have something to look forward to, perhaps that will get you moving.

Multi-task

This is only if the task is extremely repetitive, and does not require much attention. Perhaps if you have load times between entries, or have to wait between actions or whatnot, it would help to do something else instead of just sit and stare waiting. If you make this other task creative in nature, it can stimulate your mind and definitely reduce your levels of boredom.

I am a pretty big procrastinator myself, and these kinds of tasks are definitely the hardest to start, but every single time, I’ve noticed the same thing. Once you start, you get the ball rolling, develop momentum, and it makes it so much easier to get things done. So no matter what you take out of this post, just remember to get started and things will get done. Period.
