That’s right, ass with 2 dollar signs, I dare to cliché! It’s for a good reason though, affiliate marketing is simply the best way to start making money online. By selling other people’s products, you are eliminating a lot of the most time consuming and expensive parts of owning a business, and that’s what making money online really is, a business.
Now to count down the top 10 reasons why affiliate marketing kicks a$$! Starting at number 10…
10. Can Sell Virtually Anything as an Affiliate
With affiliate marketing, you are not limited to selling a product you yourself have to create, in a niche that may not even be profitable. With the many affiliate networks available, like Clickbank, NeverblueAds, and PepperJam Network, you can pick and choose from thousands of different products to sell.
This skyrockets your opportunities, and allows you to find the best offers to match your projects and make big bucks.
9. No Customers
Not literally of course; you are referring customers, but technically once they buy, they are not your responsibility. That means you don’t have to worry about customer support. That’s a potentially huge hassle off your hands, depending on what your selling.
8. No Inventory
This applies to selling physical products as an affiliate, since for all intents and purposes there is no such thing as digital inventory. Now you are able to sell products from top companies and name brands, without having to worry about anything like shipping, packaging, production, etc.
Without affiliate marketing, you would be stuck buying products at wholesale and praying that you could resell them. Think of all the associated costs with that, compared to the similar profits that come from being an affiliate.
7. Flexible Hours
You are your own boss, you can work whenever you want, where ever you want. Is there much else I can say about this?
6. Discover the Most Profitable Markets for a Product of Your Own
I’ve mentionned this on the blog before, so check out this post: Affiliate Marketing Is The Gateway To Your Own Successful Product
Basically though, when you find a goldmine through affiliate marketing, you can then create a product with confidence, and really make big bucks! Then you can get your own army of affiliates selling it
5. Huge Commissions
Digital products regularly offer commissions of 50-75%, that’s just huge! The merchants had to create a product, perfect a sales page, manage sales, and all you have to do is sell it and often make more than they do!
For physical products, the commissions are a lot lower, like 9-12% on average, but when you factor in all the costs associated with them, it’s actually quite good as well.
4. Affiliate Network Transparency
When you begin to shop around for the best affiliate opportunities through the big affiliate networks, you are given a lot of amazing data that can really help you determine whether a product is profitable or not. Take for example Clickbank’s Gravity ratings, these are huge hints to figure out what is selling.
You no longer have to “guess” whether an affiliate program is worth promoting now, the data is right in front of your eyes! You know what sells, and what doesn’t. Without affiliate marketing, you would not only have to guess what niches have buyers, but you would have to spend loads of time and money creating the products hoping for a miracle.
3. Unlimited Profit Potential
You are in direct control of your earnings potential. At a job, you work and work, but no matter if you work super hard, or do the bare minimum, your hourly wage stays the same. Not very motivating.
Now, as an affiliate marketer, your income is directly affected by your drive. The more you work, the more earnings you can potentially see flow in. How’s that for motivation?
2. Low Risk
How much does it cost to affiliate market? $0
(Sidebar: Never pay to promote products as an affiliate)
Of course, to promote the products, there are potential costs involved, like web hosting, domain names, PPC, advertising, etc. But, the risk is extremely low compared to having to produce and sell your own product.
There are lots of ways to use affiliate marketing for free as well; you could easily set up a free blogger blog, write up some articles and distribute them (bum marketing method), and see sales. All it costs is your time.
And the number 1 reason why affiliate marketing kicks a$$:
1. Building Your Own Assets
As an affiliate marketer, you’ll undoubtedly build a lot of web pages, start a lot of PPC campaigns, get lots of link backs etc. etc.
All these little things are working towards building your assets. These web sites are yours to keep, and can grow over time, continually making sales and bringing in income for years to come.
As you branch out and start new projects, your old projects can continue to earn you money. You are truly building a business, and you’re in the driver’s seat.

I also use Squidoo to set up free pages for affiliate marketing. Google really likes these pages and I’ve been pretty successful with this method.

Subscribed and dropped card
Nice list and very true.
I’ve been playing around with this idea for a while with limited success. Not sure if it’s the way I’m going about it or whether I’m just not big enough (readership wise) to make a go of it yet.
Dare to chiche indeed
Love the article, very good resource for all of us aspiring affiliate marketers out there
What is your squidoo add?May be i can learn from you.thanks
You are right. Affiliate marketing is the best make money online strategy on the long term. Even, the pages you have built and even forgotten about can bring sales in the future unexpectedly. So, it is wise to build websites, blogs as much as possible targeting niches. Pay per post type things will die in the future. For PPC, you need much traffic. I go for affiliating mostly.
I’m fairly new to the field of affiliate marketing. I found your article motivating and informative. Thank you.
