Recently I sponsored a blog review prize over at TheUniversityKid.com, and the lucky winner was Chetan Bhawani from TheWWWBlog.com! So here we go:

TUK Contest Winner - TheWWWBlog.com ReviewThe World Wide Web Blog is a nice light hearted take on all things Internet. The main topics include computers and internet, blogging, apple, wordpress, case studies, and contests. Overall, the content is quite good, albeit a bit all over the place, and has a good image.

The design itself is based on a pretty popular news/magazine theme, and is a good choice for this blog’s style of writing. The only problem is that overall it is extremely messy, most notably on the front page. There’s just too much to see here, and as a visitor, I really don’t know where to start. I would definitely recommend toning it down, and drawing more attention to what he wants seen, such as recent or featured posts.

When you hit an individual post page though, it looks much nicer. The sidebar has a great structure here, except maybe the tag cloud that I find a bit useless (from experience :P). I wonder if the Adsense ads placed in the top left corner, scrunching the image to the right is worth being there, as it does throw things off balance a bit. Perhaps a horizontal banner style located somewhere in the middle of the content would be better suited, as now it’s sort of invisible to me.

The content itself is quite good, again it’s sort of light hearted internet news and oddities. It’s recently been updated quite often, as much as twice a day, and that is a huge plus of course. The readability of the content is a big strong point. Everything is well segmented, bolded, and flows well. Lots of comments too, an active community is always good :)
